Profession is one of the first things families filter on here, and for good reason: it decides income, hours, whether the couple will move, and how much of the week they will actually see each other. Our profession list runs to more than three hundred entries across twenty groups, so “Advocate” means what it says rather than being lumped into a vague category.

Who controls the money
A good salary paid into a household pot the wife cannot touch is not the same as a good salary. Ask how the household actually runs.
The mother-in-law’s view
On a working wife, on living arrangements, on children. The groom agreeing is not enough if he lives in a joint household.
Debt
Business loans, committee obligations, money lent to relatives. Rarely volunteered and entirely reasonable to ask about before a commitment.
